Litter causes all sorts of problems for the environment. However, these problems can be easily fixed! read on to find out more!

This picture shows a beautiful place which has been turned dangerous and unsightly.
What is litter?
Litter is when rubbish isn't disposed of properly and is all the plastic and waste humans make that gets thrown around public spaces (such as the woods, beaches etc).
Facts
Approximately 14 million tons of litter ends up in our oceans every year! :(
The most common types of litter include: food and drink wrappers, cigarette waste and plastic bags.
Why is litter bad?
Litter is the cause of many animals deaths as it looks like their food to them and they try to eat it or get trapped. It is mostly marine animals who get affected by this plague of plastic.
Plastic and other types of litter cause pollution. As they break down, they release chemicals
which get into the soil, water and air. These are poisonous to us and other wildlife as we inhale or eat them. Litter spreads diseases, as you pick the litter up with your bare hands you could get cut and the germs will get into your body and make you poorly so that is why you have to use gloves or a litter picker!
What can we do about it?
Reuse and recycle, instead of putting reusable and recyclable objects in the bin or on the floor we should try and recycle or reuse those objects to save the planet and all its animals with it. This stops litter as the more litter gets reused and recycled, the less litter there is!
2. Litter Picking,As well as reducing litter we should try and stop it once and for all!
Sometimes litter can be dropped by accident or blown out of bins but if everyone did a little bit of it each then our community would be much cleaner.
3.Ask the local council to provide more bins for the local community to help people recycle and to help throw away things too!
There is always going to be some people in the world
who just don't realise how bad litter is, so its up to us
to stop this lousy litter.
